A year after being in remission from Synovial Sarcoma in 2010 which amputated her left leg below knee. Kareemah Batts went on a week long excursion at Colorado Mountain School that changed her life. She came back with a new sense of self, and left the medications and started over again. Getting a job at a local Outdoor Sporting Good store and new found love of trails and mountains led her to form NYC Adaptive Climbing. A climbing program for people with physical disabilities. Currently when she is not speaking at conferences on cancer or adaptive sports, she is in school studying for her Therapeutic Recreation degree.
